A Genre By Genre Breakdown Of Splendour In The Grass 2019 Sideshows: Indie/Pop

Splendour In The Grass isn’t Australia’s most hyped festival for nothing. It’s an absolute extravaganza that spotlights the biggest stars in music as they gather in North Byron Parklands for a celebration of music from around the corner to across the globe.

2019’s event is no different, with the likes of Childish Gambino, Chance The Rapper and our very own Tame Impala headlining. On top of that, there’s a whole stack of other local and international acts to get pumped about. But, as tickets for the festival have already sold out, there’s plenty of people around the country who’ve missed out. Luckily, plenty of acts on the bill are taking their music to major cities for some very special sideshows, and we’re giving you a complete guide to these must see performances. And to make things that much easier, we’re giving it to you genre-by-genre.

INDIE/POP

Finally, we arrive at the happiest genre of them all. There’s nothing like an unashamed party where you can forget about the worries and troubles of reality thanks to energetic beats, electrifying melodies and freedom to dance as much as you want, no matter how silly you look. The weird realm of pop, indie pop and indie rock facilitates all of the above better than any other genre, and are perhaps the genres that fit festivals best. Naturally, Splendour’s 2019 lineup is stacked top to bottom with bands and artists from these worlds, and they’re also taking the party to you.
