Each week YourSpace features 10-13 acts (bands, solos, duos etc) of various genres and levels of expertise performing from 7pm til around midnight. Then the stage turns into an all-out jam fest, with anyone and everyone welcome to take the stage for a jam into the early hours.
YourSpace has an open mic style policy – everyone is welcome to play (over 18’s only however – sorry young’uns) bookings are taken online with available spots displayed on an online calendar showing upcoming dates and times available. Attracting acts from across all of Sydney and beyond (acts that have taken the YS stage have also been from Canberra, Woolongong, Newcastle, London, Helsinki, Texas and Perth.) The nights are regularly booked out a month in advance, and are currently booked out well into August.
Due to the popularity of YourSpace, Cadence Commotions’s MD Leyne Deyveson, decided to branch out around Sydney to book more shows, in more places, some unexpected, aiming to organise more live music and art in more places.
Thus far Cadence Commotions has presented live gigs at The eXcelsior Hotel, @Newtown RSL, The Shannon Hotel, theCADfactory, The Lansdowne Hotel, The Hopetoun Hotel, The Annandale Hotel and The Sandringham Hotel and has upcoming shows at The Bald Faced Stag Hotel, Lansdowne Hotel and Kellys On King.
Perhaps you are a venue and want to have a night of music, but you’re not sure what kind of music to have? Perhaps you are a pub, club, book shop or cafe and you are planning to take advantage of the shiny new NSW licensing laws that mean you can soon host music and art events without a long drawn-out and expensive licensing process. Cadence Commotions can put together an excellent line-up for your venue, be it mixed genres, a night of blues-rock, punk, country, pop-rock, folk – whatever you want – whatever you need!
Cadence Commotions is open to approach from venues who need shows booked, promotors/agents/svengalis’ who need acts, advice and also available to consult and advise on any other event, ideas and artistic adventures.
From being involved in YourSpace and meeting so many bands and artists, Leyne found that many artists have little or no knowledge of how to promote themselves, how to find gigs and the places around Sydney that hold open mics and jam nights. Sifting through the internet to find these details can be an annoying and time consuming chore, and thus MUSO FAQ http://www.myspace.com/musofaqsydney was born, listing info on Sydney’s Open Mic & Jam Nights, Venues and info on local music/songwriting competitions, local radio and tv shows featuring and supporting local acts and other info on local promoters, nights and local music aficionados.
MUSO FAQ is open to everyone in Sydney for submission ideas, new content, cross promotions, promo info etc – any info can be submitted online or via the below contacts
Cadence Commotions is up for any opportunity to capitalise on a passionate love of music & need to make things happen
If you are interested in Cadence Commotions putting on a show, or you want more info on YourSpace or the MUSO FAQ page please contact Leyne Deyveson via http://www.myspace.com/cadencecommotions, ccmotions@gmail.com, or phone 0433 020 127.
