Classic Homebake & BDO Moments We Want To See Recreated At Scene & Heard Fest

There’s a new music festival in town and it’s hitting us right in the nostalgia bone. The cheekily-named Scene & Heard Fest is set to go down at Newcastle’s Wickham Park this November, and if its epic debut lineup is anything to go by, it’s shaping up to be a veritable high school reunion for punters who used to frequent local fests like Homebake and the Big Day Out in the ’90s and noughties (and those who wish they’d been old enough to!)

Names on the fest’s inaugural bill include the likes of The Living EndSpiderbaitSomething For Kate and Killing Heidi, as well as electro bangers from ‘UFO’ hitmakers Sneaky Sound System and loads more, and the excitement of seeing all these local greats play together on the same stage once more has got us being visited by the ghost of festival past, and reminiscing on some of their classic live shenanigans.

Catch seven Homebake & Big Day Out moments we’d like to see recreated at Scene & Heard Fest below.

You can also peep the full lineup here.

1. Killing Heidi bust out the back-up dancers for ‘Superman/Supergirl’ (Big Day Out 2001)

Because when do we ever get to see a rock band with back-up dancers anymore?!

2. Spiderbait’s set is so lit that Kram f*cks his ankle playing drums (Homebake 2004)

Sorry, Kram.

3. Rapper 360 Crashes The Living End’s Set (Big Day Out 2012)

Surprise cameo!

4. Something For Kate bring all the feels with ‘Monsters’ (Homebake 2003)

So. Many. Feels.

5. A flashmob randomly busts out ‘The Nutbush’ (Homebake 2009)

Because why not!

6. Sneaky Sound System get hundreds of punters dancing along in sync to a little song about UFOs (Big Day Out 2009)

Hello? Hello? Hello?

7. A Policewoman Joins In The Rave (Big Day Out 2014)

After a festivalgoer shot footage of a policewoman busting some sweet moves at the Melbourne Boiler Room, the Police Association Victoria issued a statement commending the copper for the “great public relations exercise.”
