After injecting a shot of pop-punk into this year’s Download Festival Australia lineup, the great Neck Deep recently announced plans to return down under for their second romp of 2018.
And I’d just like to take a moment and reflect on the sheer awesomeness of their lineup of homegrown support acts.
Warming up the stage for the Welsh mosh-inducers on the Aussie leg of their The Peace And The Panic album tour are Sydney alt-rockers Stand Atlantic, Melbourne pop-punk lords Between You & Me and Brisbane pop-rockers Stateside.
As you’re probably very aware, we’re living in a time when promoters are under a lot of scrutiny to book gender-diverse lineups. And a lot of the time, we here at Music Feeds (and the rest of the Aussie media for that matter) have a tendency to focus on the negativity and backlash that occurs when they get it wrong.
While this is important, because it helps push for positive change and more opportunities for female musicians in the industry at large, we shouldn’t forget to acknowledge the times when they get it right.
This is one of those times. Not only have promoters Live Nation booked three of the most kickass rising alternative rock acts in the country to support Neck Deep, two of them are female-fronted.
I realise that’s something that will mean a lot to some of you, and not all that much at all to others of you. But however you feel, I think we can all agree that this lineup absolutely bloody RIPS.
Neck Deep are bringing their The Peace And The Panic tour to Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne this November & December.
