The Art – Minute To Madness
Beloved Sydney rock n’ roll degenerates The Art have returned with a brand new single off their forthcoming record, All In The Mind. Dubbed Minute To Madness, the brand spanker has already earned the guys & gals Triple M Home Grown Band Of The Week status (which I didn’t even know was a thing, but shitchyeah M-dawgs!)
The track smashes together a chainsaw swing riff, canon ball Pantera-like drum fire, quirky harmonies and big fat melodic hooks into one tasty AF rock n’ roll sandwich.

Banff x Caitlin Park – My Love My Lover
The lackadaisical sun-drenched vibes of Brissie meet Sydney’s woozy indie-electronica in this brand new collab which sees singer/songwriters BANFF and Caitlin Park come together for My Love My Lover, a delectably warm and stirring new track that I’ve fallen easily head over heels for.
Resembling something akin to the lovechild of Foals and Big Scary, My Love My Lover feels intimate and almost uneasily personal, as if you’re witnessing a secret you feel you shouldn’t be. Like being invited into someone’s secret cubby house they’ve carefully hand built and curated over several years. I don’t feel like I deserve to be here, but… ok. / Mitch Feltscheer, Creative Director
JUAN DU SOL – Cuba
JUAN DU SOL is better known as Jon George from Aussie three piece RUFUS. He came to the RUFUS project as a producer by trade, and with his guidance RUFUS have become this beautiful cross between a live instrumental act and production-based performers. Cuba is the first track from JUAN’s forthcoming EP by the same name – and it’s definitely got plenty of RUFUS-style vibes, especially that warm bassline with its arpeggio-esque leaps.
Although the track is fairly spacious when it comes to texture, the sample choice in fact brings together such a huge range of different sounds and elements – and is complimented by this high-pitched, almost squeaky pan-flutey top line. The snare gives off more of a club/house vibe than the big room sounds of RUFUS – and that looks set to be complimented by the run of Aussie shows that JUAN has just announced. Nice JUAN! / Zanda Wilson, Staff Writer
oshi x DAWN – Lemonade Lakes
DAWN is actually Dawn Richard from P.Diddy’s girl group Danity Kane. That group has dissolved and DAWN has emerged as an innovative, boundary-pushing artist who has released some of the most exciting electronic music of the last few years. Lemonade Lakes sees her team up with British producer oshi for the Adidas Originals and Yours Truly ‘Song From Scratch’ series which has previously given birth to tracks by Kehlani, Fetty Wap and Chet Faker.
Lemonade Lakes is a dark, pulsating slice of electronica. DAWN’s voice echoes through oshi’s bass-heavy beats creating an atmosphere designed for post-3am listening. It’s a woozy, all-consuming trip and while it may take you a while to get your head around the sound, it’s well worth the effort. / Sam Murphy, Staff Writer

TEES – Got The Feeling
If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m a bit of a fan of Sydney duo TEES, and so as you can imagine their latest single Got The Feeling has been pumping out of my speakers since it dropped on is earlier this week. Not only is the song catchy as fuck though, its sensual video – made in collaboration between director Daniel Havas, artist Mia Middleton and the band – sees them embrace a more contemporary visual style and departing from the 90s nostalgia (as much as I miss it) that coloured their earlier clips.
The 90s house vibe is still strong in the music though, although the band as always manage to twist the genre’s influence into poppier territory by avoiding its dancefloor tropes. So don’t expect a massive big room build up and bass drop OK? / Micheal Carr, Staff Writer
Billy Fox – Avalanche
Lean back, pour yourself a stiff one and let the garbage of the past week slide away with the assistance of this terminally chill new track from emerging Sydneysider Billy Fox. Another delicate yet sublimely layered slice of R&B infused electronica from the producer, Avalanche feels as good as pair of firm hands massaging the back of your neck.
MMMmmmm thats the good shit my friends. / Mitch Feltscheer, Creative Director

Rag n’ Bone – I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore
I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore has been a part of Rag n’ Bone’s live set for a while now, but the brooding track has now gotten itself an official single release and let me tell you champs, you better settle in for over four minutes of unsettling, teetering on the edge of your seat, utterly compelling action.
“I don’t feel at home in this world anymore/ I want to disembark this vessel, the one I call my own,” opens vocalist Kiera Owen, beginning what will become a menacing diatribe on the perils of modern Australia, evoking (in a Midnight Oil-vein) themes of morality and political hypocrisy.
The lyrical intensity is punctuated by angry riffs and pounding drums all amalgamating into this ball of frustrated and turbulent energy. For the feint of heart it is not, but IDFAHITWA is a beacon for those in search of something to articulate their outrage. / Nastassia Baroni, News Editor

Shura – What’s It Gonna Be
Let’s finish up this week with a colourful dose of two of my favourite things, bright, spacious pop music and hot dudes making out.
Praise be to UK’s Shura for combining the two in the new video for latest track What’s It Gonna Be which goes down the usual contemporarised-Breakfast Club path of good looking kids dealing with high school and feelings and all that shit but then goes and dishes out a whole mess of same-sex goodness. Let’s fucking dance shall we? / Mitch Feltscheer, Creative Director
Bishop Briggs – Way I Do
Bishop Briggs is all kinds of mysterious. It’s hard to find out much about her, apart from being London born with Scottish roots, and that she uses the name of her families Scotland hometown as her alias. But really, none of this matters as soon as you hear her sing.
Way I Do, is her third single release. It showcases her staggeringly soulful voice set against gospel and dark grimey production. It’s a potent mix. Sampled Motown humming, bass and handclaps lay down the groove. Thumping Gangsta sub bass, choral BV’s, church organs, and trap drums follow, and Briggs’ voice soars atop of it all. Like I said, this woman can wail. Just listen to it, it’ll make you loins quiver. / Zana Rose, Staff Writer
The Strokes – Drag Queen
Everyone rejoice! The NY Garage Rock messiahs have returned! The Strokes have given us their latest 80’s dystopian track Drag Queen. It’s all well and good to jump on your indie high horse with “Nah, they’ll never live up to their first album.” Or “Room On Fire saved rock and roll but this isn’t rock.” Well boo-hoo friends. This is damn fine Strokes and you can’t deny it.
It’s weird. It’s lo-fi. It’s lyrics don’t make that much sense. “Coast to coast LA to Chicago/I don’t know geography that well.” It’s classic Strokes! Sure, there’s a bit of Julian Casablancas’ solo stuff in their EP, Future Present Past but we ain’t all Jehovah’s Witnesses people! Bit of blood transfusion is a-o-k!
Everyone! Believe again! Believe that The Strokes produced amazing music after Is This It! Because this is proof! / Harry Fuller, Presenter
