Bertie Page Clinic – The Lioness
Bertie Page Clinic are throwing a Kaftan Party and you’re the guest of honour. Brisneyland’s fabulous foursome have served up a two-course platter of glamour rock cuisine ala their delectable third LP, and tonight’s entree will be the titular track from the disc’s B-side, The Lioness. The dark groovin’ rocker has all of the mystery and smouldering theatrics of vintage Fleetwood Mac, only with a faster heart rate.

Julia Holter – Sea Calls Me Home
“Sea Calls Me Home is about moving away from things that trap you, the scary wonder in discovering freedom,” says Julia Holter.
The LA singer-songwriter’s newest track, which comes packed with harpsichords, saxophones, strings and plenty of whistling, is the second song she’s shared from her forthcoming new album Have You In My Wilderness, which is due out on 25th September.
After that, Holter will perform at Meredith Music Festival in December, with three east coast sideshows also lined up. / Tom Williams, Staff Writer

World Champion – Avocado Galaxy
WARNING – MAY CONTAIN GORILLAS.
New kids on the block, World Champion, have given us a taste of their sound. And by the title, I’m sure you can assume, it’s a good’n!
The band consisting of Julian Sudek (who you may know for playing with Mercy Arms and George Maple) on drums, and Will Campion (who you’ll want to know after giving this a gander) on vox and guitar, take us on a psychedelic pop journey with synthy arpeggios, heavy breathing and dreamy, dare I say angelic, vocals.
These lads recently signed to Future Classic and if this is any indication of what we can expect from World Champion, they’ll definitely be ones to watch in the next coming months. I mean listen to that groove.

Life Is Better Blonde – Follow Me
I’ve been keeping an eye on the Soundcloud page of Melbourne electronic project Life Is Better Blonde pretty intently ever since he unveiled his stunning debut Mine earlier this year. The track’s intricately layered production and glitchy, unsettling electro-soul had me intrigued and clamouring for more.
This week my wish was granted with Follow Me, which is simply a heart-breaker of a tune. From the fragile James Blake-esque vocals to the haunting piano chords to the marching, atmospheric beats, the song hits you square in the chest, furrowing its way further in with each listen.

Airling – Stallin’
Aussie singer-songwriter Airling has had a stunning debut year as an artist here in her home country, with a well-received EP and a handful of solid collabs including track Forces alongside producer Japanese Wallpaper that has seen an absolute flogging on Triple J.
Her latest single Stallin’ has just received the video treatment and it sees the silky, down-tempo RnB number paired with inky, sparse urban landscapes and a lone figure futilely dancing the night, and a lost relationship, away.
Occupying a sublimely unique niche somewhere between dream-pop and a more RnB/ hip-hop inspired realm, Airling continues to go from strength to strength in 2015. Next stop: the world. / Mitch Feltscheer, Creative Content Director
Daniel Jones – Windows XP Startup Sound (slowed 4000%)
This week marked the 20th birthday of Windows 95, so artist and software engineer Daniel Jones celebrated by slowing down a bunch of Windows startup sounds by a magical 4000 per cent.
Jones’ version of the Windows XP startup sound is particularly powerful, and it makes the memories of primary school computer lab sessions seem like a series of hazy dreamscapes. It’s also best to experience it with a Windows XP startup screen on loop, so enjoy: / Tom Williams
Montaigne – Clip My Wings
I had to do two this week because I just couldn’t skip this one!
For those who haven’t heard this lady, two things: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! Also, it’s hard to describe who Montaigne sounds like, because she doesn’t sound like anyone. She sounds like Montaigne, and I guess that’s the best part!
The Sydney songstress/power voice/all round badass is back with Clip My Wings and what seems to be the first taste of something big coming soon. (Pssssst it’s an album, she told us so!)
Montaigne really showcases a lot more of the voice we’ve become accustomed to with I’m A Fantastic Wreck and I’m Not An End, along with some massive explosive guitar and production. It’s always interesting to see what artists come up with after their debut and as I’m sure you can guess, Ol’ Mate Monty did not disappoint!
Montaigne again shows her lyrical intelligence and maturity, complimenting POIFECTLY with the strength of her voice in higher registers (which always packs a punch) as well as some damn fine accompaniment, production, dynamics, glimmer, glamour, other g words, and most importantly a video clip just around the corner. / Harry Fuller
