Michigan post-hardcore favourites La Dispute unveiled their third album, Rooms of the House, last week via their own label, Better Living. Music Feeds recently caught up with lead vocalist Jordan Dreyer, who took us back to the secluded Michigan cabin where the album was first written.
“Pretty quickly when you set up a temporary home somewhere and have a living environment that’s also the scenery for your creative process, it becomes kind of animated and important to the process. And especially given the subject matter on the record, it worked out nicely,” said Jordan.
“It was the perfect environment to write, and the perfect environment to write this record,” he added. “It facilitated what was an already occurring change… We wanted to focus and hone in more on the one thing and try to do more with less, thematically and sonically, before we started writing.”
The band have a highly awaited series of Australian tour dates lined up for this June (see below) and Jordan quickly took us through his preparation, saying, “I’ve run out of downtime, we’re getting down to the wire, so there’s lots of rehearsing and tying up loose ends in my life before we leave.”
