PREMIERE: A Wolf-Man With Big Dreams Falls From Grace In The New Yorks’ Surreal New Video

Adelaide indie rockers have dealt up a hefty slice of nostalgia with their latest single and video ‘We Enjoy This Too Much’, both in a sonic and visual sense.

Reminiscent of mid-2000s indie rock mainstays like Bloc Party and Australia’s own Yves Klein Blue, the track features bopping guitars and clever, narrative-focused lyrics that tell the story of the “constant debate and agitation between a couple”.

The clip, though, explores nostalgia of a different kind. Nostalgia for a time and a dream gone-by. A prequel to the band’s previous video ‘Sir Wolf’, which centred on the same character, this clip tells the story of the charismatic half wolf/half human frontman’s fall from grace. A fall that ultimately leaves a taste of regret and bitterness behind.

“Sir Wolf was established as a dominant character, a gobbling narcissist of a business man that’s interested in the dollars generated behind the music,” explains singer Vinnie Barbaro. “‘We Enjoy This Too Much’ provides a backstory to how he became this figure.”

‘We Enjoy This Too Much’ is taken from The New Yorks’ sophomore EP I Wish I Was You, But That’s Just Me, set for release on July 31st. The New Yorks will soon be hitting the road, kicking with shows in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne in the coming weeks. Catch details below.
