PREMIERE: Batz Return With Iso-Shot Video For Huge New Single ‘Remain The Same’

‘Remain the Same’, the first single this year from Melbourne outfit Batz, is a big, fuzzed-out banger that sits in the same musical ballpark as (and indeed, pays homage to) the likes of Primal Scream and The Kills.

Recorded at Abbotsford’s Aviary Studios with Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs, Hayley Mary) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Liam Gallagher), it’s a bright, captivating track that nods towards 90s rock ‘n’ roll psychedelia while dealing with a fairly heavy topic.

“The song touches on themes of people’s experiences in toxic relationships,” the band explain. “No matter how hard you try to work for that relationship or mold it, the relationship remains the same and sometimes it’s best you find your own path to walk and let what holds you back, go.”

As Melbourne remains in lockdown, filming a music video to accompany ‘Remain the Same’ wasn’t the easiest of tasks. Using a lot of iPhone-shot home footage, the lo-fi iso clip actually works a treat. As the band say, “You gotta roll with it and make the most of what you have!”
