PREMIERE: East Denistone Delivers Beautiful Introspective Visuals For His Latest Single ‘River’

Sydney songwriter East Denistone returns in characteristically expressive form, unveiling the striking video accompaniment to his latest single ‘River’.

Shot in his parents’ home in Denistone, New South Wales and directed by the artist himself, the stark yet warm video brings forth the song’s central themes of isolation and reflection, East Denistone standing alone in various locations surrounded by multiple reflections of himself, as he croons about the decisions we make in life and the consequences of them.

“The song itself started off being about the nature of addictive behaviours,” explains East Denistone. “Over time, it evolved into a song about life choices and consequences. It’s not some complicated, deeply introspective lyrical juggernaut, and I don’t think all music has to be. My hope is that the idea of making undesirable decisions that you might regret later on is a relatable predicament for listeners.”

“If I did have one thing working in my favour it was the fact that I knew the locale better than any other place in the world,” says Denistone of the video’s location. “It’s a weird house too! Different parts were renovated at different times and there was an extension added to it before I was born so there were few funny little different areas of the house to take advantage of.”

East Denistone will launch the single this month with a show at Lazybones Lounge in Sydney’s Marrickville. Details below.
