PREMIERE: Watch the Gorgeous, Cinematic Video for Jess & Matt’s ‘Aftermath’

Jess & Matt released latest single ‘Aftermath’ earlier this month, the first taste of their forthcoming album Wildflowers. An intimate, personal folk-pop cut, the song demonstrated the duo’s gorgeous harmonies, delicate acoustic melodies and hint of country twang that have seen them praised by the likes of Stevie Nicks and Chris Isaak.

Now, the couple and songwriting partners have shared the cinematic music video for the track, which we’re premiering here at Music Feeds before it officially arrives tomorrow.

The gorgeous clip was directed by filmmaker Remy Brand, and filmed over three days, over 3000km between Sydney and Mungo National Park. The result is a sprawling, visually stunning accompaniment that suits the earthy tones of the song itself, perfectly.

“The collective vision for this film clip saw the three of us embarking on a one rather ambitious road trip. Spanning across remote outback NSW, we developed a heightened sense of connection to our own backyard, the forests, the desolate country roads and the rich history of these lands,” the duo explain.

“We’ve been long time fans of Remy’s incredible landscape photography and film work, so to have the opportunity to collaborate with him on his very first music video was very surreal.”

Brand, a Sydney-based photographer and filmmaker who has earned multiple awards for his similarly stunning film Cold Water Therapy, says it was a joy to work with like-minded creatives on the video, praising the duo for bringing the same level of passion to the project.

“I would constantly pitch all sorts of wild ideas and they would be immediately on board, whether that be swimming in a lake at dusk in Kosciusko National Park or sprinting down a burning hot highway in the middle of the outback. We just had an insane level of chemistry and I really believe this translated into the final product.”
