PREMIERE: Listen To Coyle Girelli’s New Solo Album ‘Funland’

English-born, New York City-based songwriter Coyle Girelli – formerly frontman for Your Vegas and The Chevin – will release his second solo album Funland tomorrow (25th February).

The record, which we’re premiering here at Music Feeds before it officially drops, follows his 2018 solo debut LP Love Kills. It’s a smokey, late-night journey of a record that feels equal parts introspection and impulse, reflection and snapshot. It also takes near-constant twists and turns sonically throughout its 45-minute runtime, never staying put on any one train for much too long.

Across 11 tracks, Funland sees Girelli channel freewheeling Springsteen energy on ‘Fun’, shortly before delivering a slow-burning, piano-led ballad with ‘From 7th St with Love’. He dives headfirst into hazy dream-pop territory on ‘Here Comes My Baby’, then swiftly pivots to the groove-laden, neon-lit ‘Right Time’.

Given his credentials, it’s unsurprising that Girelli’s new album is as eclectic as it is. His credits including writing songs with K-pop giants BTS (their 2019 mega-hit ‘Heartbeat’) along with the likes of Macklemore and Robin Schulz. He’s also collaborated with our own Peking Duk, writing with the duo, touring with them as a guest vocalist and featuring on ‘Song Goes On’, which arrived last year as part of Adam Hyde’s Keli Holiday project.

“I’m so proud of Funland as a follow-up to my debut solo album Love Kills,” Girelli says of the new album. “It takes you on a ride of hope, debauchery, lust and love. I hope Aussies can turn it up and escape into Funland for 45 mins whenever they need it.”
