PREMIERE: Listen To ‘Sand Dunes’, The Debut Single From Dream Pop Duo Floozy

Today we’re premiering ‘Sand Dunes’, the debut single from Melbourne dream pop duo Floozy. The project of musicians Leigh Dallimore and Andréa Hajenian, the pair began Floozy two years ago, and their first offering demonstrates the creative chemistry they’ve evidently built throughout that time.

Anchored by a distinctive, hypnotic bassline, ‘Sand Dunes’ is a late-night gem that’s filled out with lush pop production, reverb-heavy guitar flourishes and understated synth pads. Driving and atmospheric in equal measure, the result is a warm, infectious soundscape that foregrounds Dallimore and Hajenian’s shared vocals, which bounce off one another before harmonising gorgeously throughout the track’s grooving refrain.

“‘Sand Dunes’ started with a cruisy beat one afternoon in our little bedroom studio in Fitzroy. After passing instruments back and forward between us for a while, a flowy bassline got us really excited,” the duo explain. “We followed the scent with some beautiful keys and synth textures. We really wanted to let the song tell us its story.

“COVID lockdowns and just the struggles of being an adult had us missing those summer road trips and sunburned nights when we were kids with not a worry in the world. This song was written out of a new appreciation and longing for simpler times; laying in the sand dunes, watching the clouds drift by.”
