Greyscale Records fresh meat Deadlights have just punched out the first single off their forthcoming album Mesma, the fruits of a juicy collab with producer Andy Marsh AKA Thy Art Is Murder’s resident axeman.
Dubbed ‘Invisible Hands’, the tune is a unique multi-genre bitch-slap of groove-metal riffage, throat-tearing hardcore screams and soaring pop-clean vocals layered with lush prog harmonies.
“‘Invisible Hands’ was written for a friend who was in trouble and needed help but wouldn’t admit it,” frontman Dylan Davidson tells Music Feeds. “They had something ticking in their brain pushing them to the edge and felt like they had nobody to talk about it with. We want people to know there is always someone around to be the invisible hands that help carry them along.”
And you’ll probably feel like you’re getting spun around by a bunch of invisible hands when you cop a geez at the dizzyingly stylish music video that accompanies the tune, which is premiering exclusively via Music Feeds below.
Needless to say, the Brissie alt-hardcore crew are pumped AF to drop their Greyscale Records debut, after becoming just the fourth act to sign on the dotted line with the fledgling heavy label co-masterminded by triple J short.fast.loud host Josh Merriel and Destroy All Lines guru Ash Hull, following in the footsteps of Graves, Justice For The Damned & Our Past Days.
“As soon as we heard that Greyscale came into existence we thought ‘They’re the ones for us’,” Davidson explains. “The music scene needs a rad grass roots company to change it up. We are going to make waves together.”
