Alternative, reggae collective The Kava Kings have just unleashed new track and video for ‘Stars’, a fresh cut from their upcoming EP Two Strangers.
The clip is awash with lo-fi beach shots, DIY tour footage, and super-duper aesthetic water shots. It was filmed and edited by Ella Tubman, who managed to incorporate the bands’ European tour footage. “We have spent a lot of time up that way, and it was really nice to have someone like that to create something visual for our music,” The Kava Kings said.
The Kava Kings’ Chris Smithson has described the EP as a collection of songs that describe the different stages of a relationship. “From love loss to breaking out of chains and moving on. We have reinvented the band with this EP. Recording songs that feel totally different to what we’ve ever done,” he said.
They’ve announced a string of East Coast dates too. The Kava Kings will be stopping by Maroochydore, Sydney, Canberra, Katoomba, and Wollongong.
‘Stars’ is officially out this Friday, 16th August, with the EP coming the following Friday, 23rd. It’s full of surf rock vibes, hazy riffs, and these infectious melodies.
