Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife released ‘Not Like A Brother’ over a year ago, but due to a whole lot of circumstances, the song never received a video. But, with the industry slowed right down due to the coronavirus pandemic, no time like the present to give the song the visuals it deserved.
The clip, directed by Calm Palms, that the song eventually got is a simple one, but it’s effective and evocative. Filmed during the final moments of sunlight for the day, the viewer is left with just McNeil’s face that is so expressive you feel all that she’s feeling run through your veins.
It might be unusual for a song to receive a music video a year after its release, but Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife had some perfectly good reasons. There was a three-month-long Canadian tour as well as a nationwide tour here in Australia, they signed to a record label and they released their fifth album You Be The Lightning.
