12-Year-Old DJ In The UK Throws Rave In The School Toilets, Has Equipment Confiscated

The world “legendary” gets thrown around a lot these days, but it’s hard to think of a more suitable adjective to describe Cael Bell, a 12-year-old DJ who had his gear confiscated recently after throwing a rave in his school’s bathroom.

His mother, Louise Bell, posted about the miniature Berghain on Facebook earlier this month, explaining how her son’s plan came together. According to her, Cael invited his fellow year 8s at St. Antony’s Catholic College in Manchester, UK, to a lunchtime set in the boys lavatory a couple of weeks ago, spreading the news via Snapchat.

The set lasted 30 minutes before being shut down, and included complimentary refreshments – Cadbury Twirls and Lucozade. As a result, Cael has now had his speaker and light equipment confiscated.

Mum Louise told the Mirror she was not upset with her son, and was able to find the humorous side of the incident.

“I had to laugh. It has been a terrible year and I couldn’t be angry with my son for trying to spread some cheer,” she told the newspaper.

“When I heard what Cael had done, from advertising the rave on Snapchat to actually pulling it off and even providing refreshments, I couldn’t help but see the funny side… Music is Cael’s motivation and we couldn’t be mad at him for expressing and sharing that passion. It was very inventive of him.”
