Tom Tilley Runs For The Senate Co-host of triple j's Hack program Tom Tilley held a 'press conference' this morning stating his intentions to run for the Australian senate at the next election. The video itself may have looked a tad on the budget side, but Tilley's words themselves were stirring. "I've heard your views, I've heard your stories and i've heard your struggles," he says. "I'm launching the Let's Talk party and running for the senate". If only...

#KeepMessinaOpen After what Sydney has been through fighting against the government's lockout laws over the past few years, Gelato Messina decided to tap into the societal discord going around. Surry Hill's famous gelato store posted a letter stating that due to reasons associated with the lockout laws that they would be forced to cease trading after 7pm. "Due to circumstances beyond our control, and for reasons associated with recent changes in the NSW State Government 'Lock Out Laws’, we regret to inform customers that our Darlinghurst and Surry Hills stores are now unable to trade past 7pm. The current lock-out laws imposed on Sydney's licensed venues has resulted in a marked increase in foot traffic at both our Darlinghurst and Surry Hills stores, as consumers seek alternative late night entertainment venues outside of clubs/pubs. An unforeseen consequence of this has been an increase in what police have described as 'frequent antisocial behaviour and overly loud, repetitive music in close proximity to Messina stores’. This increased foot traffic, combined with our existing store queues has made the situation untenable and we have been threatened with fines and potential legal action by council. We have attempted to engage in meaningful discussion with council, licensing police and all relevant stake holders but have failed to find common ground. As such, we are being forced to comply with new trading restrictions until further notice." Fortunately for Robert Brownie Jnr lovers everywhere, the post turned out to be false. https://twitter.com/GelatoMessina/status/715679968504598529
In Heart's Wake Drop New Album 'Seaskimmer' Aussie hard-rockers In Heart's Wake announced this morning via Twitter that they had been working on a brand new album in secret called 'Seaskimmer'. https://twitter.com/inheartswake/status/715660204981952513 The official announcement was even followed up with some pretty real-looking Seaskimmer merchandise to go with the album, including a t-shirt, a surfboard design and some customised vinyl LPs. https://twitter.com/inheartswake/status/715660698571804672 After midday the band revealed that the whole thing was a scam, and that the album artwork was really just a picture of Josh Smith from Northlane, worked into a seascape. https://twitter.com/inheartswake/status/715712225848078337

Andrew W.K Forms A New Political Party, The 'Party' Party American singer-songwriter Andrew W.K. announced that he is forming a new political party, even launching a website and making a promotional video. The video takes a serious tone, stating truthfully that "The majority of Americans are concerned with the current state of the nation." The singer calls for the support of the American people to trust in his ability as a partier and entertainer. What makes it such a compelling prank is that despite the semi-outrageous premise, there are some serious points made about how the American political system has recently "mountain of overwhelming national anxieties" and that the American people need to come together at this time of political uncertainty. https://youtu.be/bERtaqXtBpI
Uber Is Delivering Babies To Your Office Concrete Playground announced this morning that following on from Uber's hugely successful campaigns delivering Messina and then kittens to offices around Sydney, the latest venture from the ride-sharing service would be taking things to a new level. According to the article, today marked the launch of UberBUBS, a service to deliver babies to you, but the waiting list was "expected to be huge". They even included a 'quote' from Uber CEO Pieter Rank. "If there's one thing you hear time and time again from successful, white collar types in the CBD," he allegedly said, "it's the regret of having put career ahead of family. Today at least, even if only for 15 minutes, we're giving them the chance to have both — no strings attached." Unfortunately, with nothing on Uber's website to back up the claims, we had to dismiss this as another prank.
Contiki Are Offering Virtual Holidays Travel and tour company Contiki dropped a bombshell this morning with the 'official' launch of Virtually Unlimited, a virtual reality travel holiday experience. And finally, Music Feeds must admit that we too were complicit in a prank of our own. Unfortunately Dave Grohl has not been announced as the new vocalist of AC/DC... But hey, we can dream can't we? Until next year... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25SPhNpWIhk
