Amy Shark has capped off a huge year by dominating the 2018 ARIA Awards at Sydney’s Star Event Centre on Wednesday night.
The ‘Adore’ singer was nominated for nine awards behind her debut album Love Monster, and claimed four of them: Apple Music Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release and Producer Of The Year via her collaborators Dann Hume and M-Phazes.
Late Indigenous musician Gurrumul was honoured with a musical tribute, and was posthumously awarded Best Male Artist and Best Independent Release for his album Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow), adding to his two previously announced awards for Best World Music Album and Best Cover Art.
Elsewhere, 5 Seconds Of Summer claimed three awards, and 16-year-old singer-songwriter Ruel claimed the Breakthrough Act award, becoming the youngest solo artist to ever win an ARIA Award.
National treasure Kasey Chambers was also inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, becoming the youngest woman to ever be awarded the honour, while Courtney Barnett became the first female artist to win the Best Rock Album award.
