UPDATE: 5 Seconds Of Summer Are Back With A New Sound & Aussie Tour Dates
ORIGINAL STORY: Attention fanboys and girls! 5 Seconds Of Summer are readying a brand new dose of choonage to shove down your gullets this Friday, 23rd February.
The song in question is dubbed ‘Want You Back’ and judging by the tiny snippet they’ve just shared on Instagram, it sounds nothing like the Jackson 5 song of the same name. And apparently it won’t sound a whole lot like classic 5SOS either!
The imminently dropping ditty comes from the Aussie pop-rockers’ forthcoming third studio album, which guitarist Michael Clifford has assured fans will be out this year, and also represents a “departure” from their established sound.
“I think when all the new stuff comes out, it’s like a departure of our old sound but it still keeps elements of all of the things we liked about it. It was just time for us to change,” Clifford recently told Billboard.
It comes after the band were pictured in the studio alongside Blink-182 and Steve Aoki a while back, following the release of their 2015 album Sounds Good Feels Good.
According to the band’s latest Insta post, new tune ‘Want You Back’ will land at exactly 11am AEDT this Friday.
