There’s no doubt that rapper DaBaby has landed himself in hot water after he made homophobic comments on stage at Rolling Loud Miami a few weeks ago on July 25th, but 50 Cent has now jumped in on the controversy, saying that he doesn’t believe the rapper will be down for too long.
Speaking with E!’s Nightly Pop, Fiddy reckons DaBaby is still at such an early stage in his career, that there are always going to be missteps.
The hosts of the program prompted him by asking whether DaBaby has any chance of bouncing back from the controversy.
“Yeah, he will. As long as he keeps his consistency with the music,” he said. “Remember they canceled Chris Brown, five, six times?”
50 Cent vouched for him, saying he’s a “really talented, special artist” who is still just finding his feet in the game.
“He just transitioned from being in that pool that everyone’s in, as a rap artist. They didn’t notify him that he’s turning into a superstar. There’s nobody that tells you, “Now you’re being held to these standards that are mainstream standards that you can’t say things, you can’t do these different things.””
“He made a general statement. He was just on stage. He’s not directing that to any individual. But he’s still new, and he’s being attacked by individuals. Madonna said something to him, Questlove said something to him, then Elton John – these are people that are this big. He never said anything about them personally.”
“He’s just two years into his career, there’s no artist development, no A&R, and there’s definitely no media training.”

After DaBaby’s comments at Rolling Loud, he was promptly dropped by a string of festivals, including Lollapalooza and Governor’s Ball.
He made an official apology to the LGBTQIA+ community last week, after a failed number of attempts to make reparations.
“I want to apologise to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made,” he wrote. “Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.”
However despite those words, just a few days ago, he deleted the apology from all of his social media accounts.
