A Company Has Trademarked The Word ‘BLEGH!’ & Metalcore Fans Are Pissed

A German company has stirred up a circle pit of emotions after filing to trademark the word ‘BLEGH!’

Independent alt clothing store Death Sentence broke the news on Instagram, reporting that their “BLEGH” merch had been nuked from their Etsy store after a company with the handle @blegh.de filed for the trademark.

“Someone in Germany has just trademarked the word BLEGH as their own and as a consequence I can no longer use it,” Death Sentence wrote. “I can prove I was using it before they claimed it as their own, as can dozens of other people/brands/bands out there. What are your thoughts?!”

Sam from ARCHITECTS, widely revered as one of BLEGH’s founding fathers, was quick to comment on the post, declaring “The blegh is for the people!”

A number of other alternative merch companies also chimed in, reporting their goods had also been turfed from Etsy.

@Blegh.de has reportedly taken out an international trademark on the word, which won’t expire until November 2033.

Metalcore fans have been quick to denounce the very un-metal move, with one commenting “That’s pretty cringe of them”.

“Well, that’s one way of pissing off the community that you supposedly ‘support’!” another added.

The company has disabled their Instagram comments in the wake of the rising backlash.

We’ll bring you more news on this battle of the BLEGH as it continues to develop…
