A New Kurt Cobain Album Will Be Released This Year

The definitive Kurt Cobain documentary Montage Of Heck has unearthed a great many lost artefacts from the late, great Nirvana frontman’s personal archives. Rarely seen home movies, artwork, photography, journal extracts and, of course, music have all been dusted off from the vault for the doco, and now we’re getting an album to match.

Director of the critically acclaimed HBO documentary, Brett Morgen, has said that a collection of Cobain’s previously unheard home recordings will be curated into a new LP, which is slated for release in the Australian winter.

The record “will feel like you’re kind of hanging out with Kurt Cobain on a hot summer day in Olympia, Washington as he fiddles about,” Morgen said in a recent interview with Bedford + Bowery. “It’s going to really surprise people.”

“Just to be clear, it’s not a Nirvana album,” the director added. “It’s just Kurt and you’re going to hear him do things you never expected to come out of him.”

Montage Of Heck , which was produced by Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean, will premiere in Australia with a limited theatrical release on 7th May. JUST THREE MORE DAYS PEOPLE.
