A. Savage making waves with his recent release ‘Several Songs About Fire’ has just released a new EP titled The Loft Sessions. The EP features three covers and a reworking of one of Savage’s original songs “Wild Horse”, which is all recorded during a day at Wilco’s Loft Studio in Chicago.
The Loft Sessions include covers songs of notable artists like country legend Johnny Paycheck, psych guru Kevin Ayers, and queer luminaries Lavender Country. Savage, accompanied by his live band, felt inspired to record these tracks after recognizing the exceptional talent of his bandmates during a tour last fall.
A. Savage – ‘The Loft Sessions’
A. Savage expressed his excitement about working with his band on the EP. “The live band I’ve been playing with are truly some of the best musicians in the game right now. Backing me up on the road are members of Sharpie Smile, Modern Nature, White Fence and Sunwatchers. They are all fabulous musicians and people, who I love being in with, in a van, and on a stage. It became immediately apparent on my tour last fall that this band was phenomenal and should be documented, so when we made it to Chicago and received a generous invitation to spend a day recording at the Wilco Loft, I jumped at the opportunity. This studio is a seriously special place that I’ve had the good fortune to record at previously, and every visit is a joy. Spending a day off there was a no-brainer.
John Parish produces the EP in Bristol, ‘Several Songs About Fire’ features collaborations with Jack Cooper, Cate Le Bon, and members of Kamikaze Palm Tree and caroline. The EP is praised for its emotional depth, with Savage’s lyrics and observational skills standing out.
A. Savage music delves into themes of wealth, poverty, self, and others, showcasing his ability to connect with listeners on a profound level. The EP’s release marks another milestone in Savage’s musical journey, offering fans a unique blend of covers and original compositions.
