Adam Hills “Appalled” After Friend With Disability Denied Entry To Sydney Clubs

Australian comedian Adam Hills has said he is “fucking appalled” after learning a member of his rugby league team, who lives with a disability, was turned away from a number of Sydney clubs overnight.

In a statement posted to Twitter today, Hills said, “Well played Sydney, just found out our Disability Rugby League Team weren’t allowed into clubs last night because one of our team members was slurring his words.

“He has cerebral palsy. Fucking appalled with my own town.”

Hills hasn’t named any of the venues which were allegedly involved, but some of his followers have urged him to “name and shame”.

Hills’ statement comes after his league team the Warrington Wolves became the Physical Disability World Club Champions at ANZ Stadium on Thursday night.

A similar incident occurred in the Sydney suburb of Newtown earlier this month, when a 21-year-old woman with cerebral palsy was denied entry to a local venue because security guards mistakenly believed she was drunk.

Last month, Adam Hills announced two Australian shows as part of his ‘Best Foot Forward’ tour. He is also scheduled to take part in a reunion of the ABC‘s music quiz show Spicks And Specks in November.
