Aerosmith Cancel Shows As Frontman Steven Tyler Enters Rehab

Aerosmith were due to kick off a Las Vegas residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live next month, but the band have announced they will be cancelling the dates so frontman Steven Tyler can undergo rehabilitation.

“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years,” Tyler’s bandmates wrote in a statement shared on social media earlier this week. The statement explained that after undergoing foot surgery recently to prepare for performing live, and the necessity of pain management during the process, Tyler experienced a relapse and had voluntarily entered a treatment program to focus on recovery.

“We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must cancel our first set of Las Vegas Residency dates this June and July while he focuses on his well-being,” the statement continued, adding that the band would look to resume touring in September.

“We are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows. Thank you for your understanding and for your support for Steven during this time.”

Tyler has been open in the past about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. In a 2019 interview with Haute Living, the singer discussed his bandmates and management holding an intervention for him in 1988, saying he was “grateful” and “owe[d] a thanks to them for my sobriety”.

Aerosmith’s last album, Music from Another Dimension!, arrived back in 2012.
