Australia’s favourite Jack Daniels-drinking, blue-singlet wearing, guitar-wailing pub rockers Airbourne have scored themselves a spot on the bill at Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park Festivals in Germany next year.
The now US-based band, who have a strong fanbase in Germany, will join the likes of Green Day, The Prodigy, The Wombats and Bad Religion at the twin festivals, which take place simultaneously from June 7-9 2013.
It’s the third time that the band have played the festival, having previously performed in the ‘Club Tent’ in 2008, and then making their way up to the ‘Center Stage’ in 2010.
Basically seen as Germany’s version of the Falls Festival – Rock am Ring and Rock im Park are twin festivals, which have been held annually since 1985. Rock am Ring is held at the famous Nürburgring racetrack, while Rock im Park takes place around the Frankenstadion in Nuremberg. Headliners for this year’s event included Metallica, Linkin Park, Tenacious D and Soundgarden.
Provided frontman Billy Joe Armstrong gets himself out of rehab, Green Day seem to be lining themselves up for a big European Festival run in 2013. They’ve already locked themselves in for Rock Werchter in Belgium, Pinkpop in Netherlands and Bilbao BBK Live in Spain.
A few of the acts who are coming to our shores for festivals in March will also be appearing at the twin festivals. Future Music Festival’s Fun., Boys Noise and The Prodigy are on the bill, as are Soundwave acts Bullet for my Valentine, Paramore, Stone Sour and Bring Me the Horizon.
