Homegrown singer-songwriter Alex Lahey has taken to the triple j studios for Like A Version, performing a cover of the classic song ‘Torn’, which was popularised by Australia’s very own Natalie Imbruglia.
‘Torn’ was originally record by Danish singer Lis Sørensen, and later by American alt-rockers Ednaswap before Imbruglia dropped her version in 1997, which makes Lahey’s cover something of a cover of a cover of a cover of a cover…
Lahey’s version of the track made us feel all the feels, thanks to its heartfelt rocker vibes, velcro guitars and passionate vocal delivery.
While in the triple j studios, Lahey also performed her original song ‘You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me’, which she stripped back into a self-described “emo banger”. She also revealed that her debut album will be dropping in the first week of October, with a new single to hit our ears “in the next month or two”.

Lahey is currently touring the country on her ‘Wes Anderson’ national tour.
