Tasmania post-hardcore band Save The Clock Tower have taken to Facebook to deliver the sad news that their bassist Alex Mcnulty has passed away.
“Today, we carry the heaviest of hearts,” wrote the band in a post, accompanied by a photo of Mcnulty. “We miss you and love you brother, more than any words can ever, ever explain. Rest in peace Alexander.”
The band did not comment on the nature of his death. A previous post on the Save The Clock Tower Facebook page revealed they had pulled out of three shows earlier this week due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
Other Australian bands have taken to social media to express their condolences. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alex Mcnulty’s family, friends & the Save The Clock Tower boys,” wrote Brisbane’s Dollarosa. “It’s rare to meet someone in your lifetime that is so filled with passion and joy. Rest in peace, brother.”
“We had the absolute privilege to tour with Save The Clock tower and honestly had some of the best times with the boys especially with Alex who was just a legend. Always brought the best vibes to any room,” wrote Gold Coast outfit Awaken I Am.
“Many great nights, gigs and good times have been shared between us all and Alex is already missed dearly,” added fellow Launceston outfit Zeolite. “Macca was a great friend and support to all members of Zeolite and that will never ever be forgotten.”
