It’s new music time for Alt-J, with the British group announcing their long awaited fourth record, The Dream.
We’ve still got some time ahead of us before The Dream is released (February 11) but Alt-J fans have been given a taste of the album to keep ’em busy. The track, called ‘U&ME’, is the first cut of new material from Alt-J in four years.
Inspired in by feelings of togetherness and living in the moment (energy we can all do with about now), ‘U&ME’ is fitting return to form for Alt-J.
Watch the music video for Alt-J’s ‘U&ME’ below.
“It’s about being at a festival with your best friends, having a good time, ” Gus Unger-Hamilton has said of ‘U&ME’. “The feeling in life that nothing could be any better than it is right now.”
‘U&ME’ was written during Alt-J’s time on the road, recorded with their longtime collaborator and producer, Charlie Andrew.
Dishing up some more details about The Dream, Alt-J have revealed that in part, the record has been inspired by ‘true crime inspired stories and tales of Hollywood and the Chateau Marmont’. The album came together once the band wound down touring on their RELAXER tour cycle in 2018.
