Give your dad a ring. America – the band known for classics like ‘Ventura Highway’ and ‘Horse with No Name’ – are still going strong 50 years since their formation. Today, the band have announced they’ll return to Australia this summer, performing a seven-date run of shows down under to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
The iconic classic rock outfit – headed by singers and guitarists Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, will perform all their hits on the tour, which kicks off in Australia this November.
Formed in 1970 in London while their fathers were stationed at a nearby US Air Force base, the band named themselves America to avoid confusion. They went on to record six gold and/or platinum selling records and become cornerstones of the 1970s charts, also scoring hits with tracks like ‘Sister Golden Hair’ and ‘Don’t Cross the River’.
Check out tour dates below. Tickets go on sale this Friday, 2nd August. You can sign up for pre-sale registration via the Bluesfest Touring site here.
