Amy Shark Set To Perform At State Of Origin’s Game Three

Amy Shark has been picked to perform at the final State of Origin game of the year next Wednesday.

Shark’s performance will be a part of a pre-match tribute to Queensland’s State Of Origin captains throughout history, including Cameron Smith, Mal Meninga and Darren Lockyer, going down at Suncorp Stadium.

In a statement, NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo said he’s pretty pumped to have Sharky on board for this momentous occasion.

“It will be great to have homegrown Queensland artist Amy Shark perform for this special occasion,” he said.

Shark, who calls Gold Coast home, also spoke about how much this performance means to her.

“I’ve watched Origin since I was in primary school so playing Suncorp Stadium for Origin Three is going to be incredibly special for me,” she said. “My Mum and Dad are going to be extremely happy.”

The two previous musical performances of this year’s Origin matches were Peking Duk, who garnered some mixed reviews, and Jet.

It’s been a massive week for Amy Shark, having just been announced as the second act for MTV’s ‘MTV Unplugged Melbourne’ series and being just over a week away from releasing her debut album Love Monster on Friday, 13th July.
