It would have been Eddie Van Halen‘s 66th birthday yesterday. To honour the late musician, LA artist Robert Vagas has unveiled a stunning mural of the Van Halen founding member in Hollywood.
Van Halen died on October 6 last year following a long battle with throat cancer.
After his passing, there was an outpouring of tributes to the late musician. Vagas‘ tribute to the late musician is painted on a wall outside of Guitar Center’s Sunset Boulevard store.
In a post to Instagram earlier in the month, the visual artist said “I am beyond excited to create this mural of one of my all-time creative heroes, Eddie Van Halen.”
“This mural is truly for the fans and a celebration of my favourite rock band, Van Halen’s legacy.”
Titled Long Live The King, the commissioned mural depicts Van Halen playing his signature guitar – the ‘Frankenstrat’. The freehand mural wholly captures the spirit and vivaciousness of the musician.
