André 3000 Is Set To Star In Noah Baumbach’s New Netflix Film

The elusive André 3000 is making his return – to film, at least – in some exciting news for fans!

The rapper and actor has been tapped to star alongside Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig in Noah Baumbach’s next project for Netflix, a screen adaptation of White Noise.

The original White Noise was a novel by Don DeLillo, written in 1985. It has been described by Netflix officials as a dramatisation of ‘a contemporary American family’s attempt to deal with the mundane conflicts of day-to-day life while grappling with the larger philosophical issues of love, death and the possibility of happiness in an uncertain world’.

Pretty pertinent to 2021’s climate, no?

While André 3000’s role in White Noise hasn’t been disclosed, the expectations around this project are already huge, with the estimated budget believed to be around USD $80 million. White Noise is the second film project André’s been attached to this year, with the other film coming in the form of Showing Up, by Kelly Reichardt and starring Michelle Williams.

Andre hasn’t appeared in a film since 2018’s High Life, but has earned praise for his roles in Jimi: All Is By My Side and favourites like Semi-Pro and Be Cool over the years.

The White Noise adaptation will be the next big Netflix-Baumbach collab following on from the success of Marriage Story in 2019.

There is no expected release date as yet for White Noise, but filming is already underway in Cleveland, Ohio.
