UPDATE: Man Charged Over Murder Of Angry Anderson’s Son, Liam
ORIGINAL STORY: The son of Australian rock legend Gary “Angry” Anderson, Liam Anderson, has died after an alleged assault in Sydney’s northern beaches early this morning.
ABC reports that Liam, 26, died on the way to hospital after reportedly being involved in a fight with a 20-year-old in Queenscliff. Both police and paramedics attempted to resuscitate him, to no avail.
Police say that both Anderson and the alleged attacker knew each other, but they are yet to figure out a motive.
“I’m confident at this stage that this is not a random attack,” NSW Police Inspector Michael Boutouridis said.
“I don’t know the circumstances that led to them being at the reserve this morning, that’s why I’m appealing to the community to assist us with those inquiries.”
The alleged attacker was taken into custody using “significant force” and was taken to Manly Police Station for interviewing. Boutourdis suspects that drugs or alcohol could’ve been involved.
A representative of Anderson’s, Scot Crawford, released a statement asking for the respect of the family’s privacy.
“With the matter in the hands of NSW Police, the family will not be making any comment at this stage, nor are we as Anderson’s management in a position to offer any comment on their behalf.”
Liam Anderson was an aspiring rapper who performed under the name Ranford Bigsby.
