American experimental psychedelic quartet Animal Collective have just announced a couple of sideshows while in Australia for Big Day Out 2013. The sonically tripped-out four-piece will be playing two of Australia’s most iconic venues, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Palace Theatre, in what will be Animal Collective’s first visit since their sold-out tour three years ago.
Earlier this month Animal Collective released their latest record Centipede Hz, which spawned the audibly unpredictable cluster-fuck single Today’s Supernatural. When speaking to Pitchfork about Centipede Hz, Animal Collective’s Brian Weitz said musically the album see the band return “back to our roots”.
“We got a little practice space in this barn on Josh [Dibb, aka Deakin]’s mom’s property and it was basically like being a garage band again,” Weitz told Pitchfork, “This one we wrote more as a rock band in a room and we wanted to record it that way as well”.
