UPDATE: The official Soundwave 2014 lineup has finally dropped – all the details here!!!
With the official lineup announcement for Soundwave 2014 only a matter of days away as the big reveal is due this Friday, 24th August Melbourne ska punk act The Bennies have jumped the gun and revealed their place on the bill for the Melbourne leg via Twitter.
The 4-piece broke the news earlier this evening by tweeting, “So so so happy to announce that will be playing Melbourne’s @soundwavefest Crazy excited!!!” It seems the coup of being added to one of the most hotly anticipated lineups of the year was just two much for the band to contain until the end of the week.
The Bennies themselves have been a touring maelstrom during their three year career having performed over 300 shows across Australia, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia as well as a national tour with The Smith Street Band.
The Bennies join ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted’s eponymous outfit Newsted on the list of band’s from the Soundwave Festival 2014 lineup to have already been leaked. The bands will be part of a lineup consisting of 60 or so acts that AJ Maddah has admitted won’t top 2013’s bumper bill.
