Arcade Fire, Bon Iver And The Strokes Members Form Pop All Star Band

Arcade Fire got fans buzzing over the weekend when they announced that core members the Butler brothers’ annual charity basketball game, Pop Vs Jock, would feature a supergroup comprised of members from Arcade Fire, The Strokes, and Bon Iver, and the Pop All Star Band didn’t disappoint.

The group, who performed their first and only show during the third instalment of Win and Will Butler’s charity event, included Win, the frontman’s wife and fellow Arcade Fire member Régine Chassagne, The Strokes’ Nikolai Fraiture, and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. After first half concluded, the group took the court for performances of Phil CollinsIn the Air Tonight and The White StripesSeven Nation Army.

As Rolling Stone reports, the event was held at the McGill Sports Center in Montreal and featured the performers playing for Team Pop alongside former NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Brent Barry and led by Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs. Their opponents, Team Jock, featured past and present players from the McGill and Concordia University teams. Team Pop emerged the winners at 101-92.

In addition to the incredible halftime show, Chassagne and DJs Kid Koala and A-Trak provided in-game music, which included a cover of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. All proceeds from the Pop Vs Jock event go to the DJ Sports Club, a Montreal nonprofit that offers sports and education programs to local youth.
