Archie Roach, Briggs, Mo’Ju Lead Treaty Day Out Festival Lineup

Looking for a 26th you can celebrate? Let Saturday, 26th February be that day. That’s when Treaty Day Out takes place in Shepparton, northern Victoria.

Treaty Day Out is presented by the First People’s Assembly of Victoria, who’re responsible for developing the framework and demands Traditional Owners of Country will bring to Treaty negotiations with the Victorian Government.

The lineup is all Indigenous, no filler. Legendary songwriter and Gunditjmara and Bundjalung man Archie Roach will headline, next to Yorta Yorta hip hop artist Briggs and Arnhem Land’s finest, Yothu Yindi.

The lineup also features hip hop and soul performer, Wiradjuri/Filipino woman Mo’Ju; Wergaia/Wemba Wemba singer-songwriter Alice Skye; Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara modern soul duo Electric Fields; Indigenous reggae-rock legends No Fixed Address; Marlon X Rulla, the duo of Tulampunga Pakana MC Rulla Kelly-Mansell and Larrakia, Kungarrakany and Thursday Islander descendent Marlon Motlop; plus Yorta Yorta songwriters Scott Darlow and Madi Colville Walker, and Wulumbarra.

Treaty Day Out is happening at the community-run Rumbalara Football Netball Club in Shepparton. Entry is free for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people enrolled with the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria. Enrol here. Tickets are $50 for non-Indigenous punters, who’re encouraged to join Team Treaty for updates on the process.
