Ariana Grande Has Been Accused Of Ripping Off Multiple Rappers On New Song ‘7 Rings’

Ariana Grande has kicked off her 2019 with a bang, releasing the follow-up single to her wildly successful ‘thank u, next’ – titled ‘7 rings’ – but multiple artists are accusing her of ripping off their lyrical flow.

In case you haven’t heard it, ‘7 rings’ is a song with a huge hip-hop and trap influence, and a few rappers are nothing its similarity to other tracks.

First, people were noticing similarities between the song and one of Soulja Boy‘s classic, ‘Pretty Boy Swag.’ Interestingly, this comes after just this week Soulja Boy claimed himself to be one of the most influential rappers alive.

On top of that, Princess Nokia directly called out Grande for what she perceived to be copying her flow. She posted a video listening to the song, and then immediately played her song ‘Mine’ after.

“Does that sound familiar to you? Because that sounds really familiar to me,” Nokia said. “Sounds about white.”

People are also noticing similarities between ‘7 rings’ and 2 Chainz‘ 2011 track ‘Spend It’, as well as a similar aesthetic between the two artists in the video.

It’s all turned into a bit of a mess, with people also saying that Nokia copied Soulja Boy’s track. Also, for some reason, Nokia is also being accused of ripping off Kali Uchis – who just stopped in by triple j for a Bjork-covering ‘Like A Version’ yesterday.

All in all, we don’t know what to believe and our heads hurt.
