A “heartbroken” Ariana Grande has shared a tribute to her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who died over the weekend at the age of 26.
Grande, who dated Miller for almost two years, has taken to Instagram to share a black-and-white photo of Miller (below), and while there’s no caption on the post, her grief is evident.
Grande has also disabled comments on his Instagram posts, after receiving abuse and blame from some Mac Miller fans following the rapper’s death.
A source close to Grande has told US Weekly that the singer is “absolutely heartbroken” over Miller’s death, which is believed to be the result of an apparent overdose.
“Her entire family is in shock too,” the source said.
“They all grew close to Mac during his relationship with Ari. He was a huge part of her life, and they always shared such a special bond. She wanted nothing but positivity in Mac’s life after they broke up.”
Earlier this year, Miller told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe that while he felt Grande’s engagement to comedian Pete Davidson was “a little strange”, he didn’t see it as negative.
“It’s just a part of something that’s going to continue to help make me who I am,” he said. “I am happy for her and moving forward with her life just as I’m sure she is with me.”
Police reportedly believe that Miller’s home was swept of drugs prior to the investigation into his death.
Since his death, the likes of Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Solange, Chance The Rapper, Travis Barker and Snoop Dogg have honoured the late musician. Read their heartwarming tributes right here.
