Toro y Moi and Roddy Ricch, two of the artists who performed at Travis Scott‘s Astroworld festival last week, have confirmed they will donate their artist fees to the families of the eight people who died as a result of a crowd crush incident during Scott’s headline set at NRG Park in Houston, Texas.
“Please have the families of those who we lost yesterday reach out,” Roddy Ricch wrote in an Instagram Story on Saturday, 6th November, the day after the tragedy took place. “I’ll be donating my net compensation to the families of this incident #Pray4Houston.”
Earlier today, Chaz Bear (aka Toro y Moi) shared a statement on social media expressing condolences to the families of those killed during Astroworld.
“The loss of life at a concert is unbelievably sad and discouraging as an entertainer. It’s taken me a few days to process and understand what all has happened,” Bear wrote.
“To show support, my business/management teams, my band and crew, and I are all donating our entire fees and any profit to the families of the victims from the event. Profiting from this event feels completely off and I’d like to encourage other performers to consider helping in some way as well.”

Eight people were killed and hundreds were reportedly injured during Scott’s headline set at the the festival after the crowd began surging forward. “Suddenly we had several people down on the ground, experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode,” Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite told the Associated Press.
Scott has since released two statements about the incident – a written one and a longer video – saying he is “devastated” at what took place and “could never imagine the severity of the situation”. Scott added that authorities had the rapper’s “total support” as they continued to investigate the situation. “I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need,” he wrote.
Scott, festival promoters Live Nation and Drake – who joined Scott onstage during the latter part of his set – are among those who have had lawsuits filed against them by those injured during the set. Scott has offered to refund all Astroworld tickets, as well as cover funeral costs for those who were killed.
On Tuesday (9th November), Drake issued his first public statement about the tragedy. “My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering,” he wrote. “I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can.”
