Attn Emos: Short Stack Have Announced Their First Album In Six Years

Your teen emo icons Short Stack are sealing the deal on their colossal comeback with a brand new album coming your way early next year.

The punk rock trio will drop their fifth studio LP, Maybe There’s No Heaven, on Friday February 25th, on the heels of their debut performance at UNIFY Gathering.

According to the band, their first album in six years is also their most authentic.

Looking back at the band’s colourful past, frontman Shaun Diviney explains: “There was a tension between the band that we wanted to be and the band that other people around us wanted to be”.

However, as drummer Bradie Webb adds, Maybe There’s No Heaven “isn’t in any way what someone else told us we should be”.

“[We] finally have our hands on the steering wheel,” he says.

This week’s big announcement also comes with the arrival of a new single called ‘Love You Like I Used To’, which Shaun reckons is his favourite song on the whole record.

“We wrote it as a sad party anthem – almost like an anthem for breakups,” he explains.

“We approached the song very differently to any other song we’ve ever worked on. It took several days to get it “right” because we knew there was something special there, we just needed to find the right way to bring it to life.”

Give  ‘Love You Like I Used To’ a listen below, and you can catch Short Stack performing live at UNIFY Forever in January, ahead of their national headlining tour next June/July.
