Audioslave Members Reunite For First Time In Nine Years

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell made an appearance at a Seattle performance by former Audioslave bandmate Tom Morello over the weekend. The performance marked the first time the two had shared a stage since a 2005 tour, which was followed by the dissolution of the group in 2007.

Morello’s set at the El Corazon was part of a benefit concert for 15 Now, the group that successfully fought for an increased minimum wage in Seattle. The Rage Against the Machine guitarist kicked things off with a set of tunes that included RATM’s Sleep Now in the Fire, before Cornell took over for an acoustic run that included covers of Imagine and U2’s One interspersed with lyrics from Metallica’s One.

Morello then returned to the stage to join Cornell, playing a rendition of Audioslave’s 2002 hit I Am the Highway. The pair also ran through 2005’s Doesn’t Remind Me and Your Time Has Come, as well as a soaring cover of Bruce Springsteen’s The Ghost of Tom Joad and Audioslave’s signature tune, Cochise.

Audioslave was founded in 2001 by Cornell and former Rage Against The Machine members Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk. After releasing three well-received studio albums, the group disbanded in 2007 after Cornell left the group over creative and personal differences.
