Augie March Announce On The Quiet Tour

Over the course of this Long Hot Summer, Augie March have been gracing the main stages of several of the country’s largest and finest music festivals, to tens of thousands of excited music lovers, befitting their status as one of the country’s most popular and acclaimed bands. Loud, electric, ten-piece band and giant sing-a-longs taking place in the Australian Great Outdoors. In the South and West they will have played to another sea or two of people on massive outdoor stages supporting the legendary Leonard Cohen.

So it must be time for a 180-degree turn. Just when you think you have them pinned ……

Augie March announce their next step … AUGIE MARCH – ON THE QUIET will showcase the band in an intimate set up playing some very fine, very small venues, for a very fine, very small run of shows. Playing as a full band, but with a large dose of acoustic instruments. Sometimes no amplification at all, sometimes full blast electric amplification. But at all times, intimate, harmonious and close; treating each show as a lounge room romp playing a mix of all sorts of new and old material. On the quiet.

The band have also been invited by WWF to launch EARTH HOUR in Australia with a live performance on Saturday March 28 at Melbourne’s Federation Square to an anticipated audience of 10,000. The band will play “One Crowded Hour”, the official theme for WWF’s climate change campaign. That’s at 8.30pm, then from Fed Square they will be riding bikes or walking the 3 city blocks to The Toff in Town to take the stage for one of the On The Quiet shows.

To cap it off the band will present a brand new clip for “Lupus”, the next single from their critically acclaimed fourth studio LP, Watch Me Disappear (2008). Re-mixed by Chris Thompson at ABC Studios in Melbourne, “Lupus” is accompanied by a dark clip loosely based on Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse, abstractly portraying an old man and his younger wolf alter ego. Produced & Directed by Lucy Dyson & Madeleine Griffith, and filmed at Bakehouse Studio, Richmond and various locations in inner-city Melbourne. Watch Me Disappear is heading steadily towards Gold status.
