Bust out your newspaper hats and get ready to wash your face with orange juice (while knocking back a few glasses of shiraz), because your childhood hero Peter Combe just announced a one-off adults-only show with his amazingly-named Bellyflop In A Pizza Band.
Yep, Mr. Clicketty Cane himself has returned in all of his glory to entertain us grown-up ABC kids with songs about ‘Juicy Juicy Green Grass’ (where have you gone?), ‘Spaghetti Bolognaise’ (we love it everyday!) and the ‘Newspaper Mama’ (what’s black and what’s white and read all over?) while we can get thoroughly Toffee Appled at the bar and try to remember all the old dance moves that used to burn up the asphalt on primary school bus lines.
Sadly, fans will either have to live near (or be willing and able to travel to) Melbourne for the bound-to-be-epic nostagliafest, which is set to go down at The Corner Hotel on Sunday, 25th June. But who knows, if all goes well, Combey might end up chucking a Wiggles and taking the show on the road.
“It’s amazing to watch them really go for it dancing and singing,” the multiple ARIA-winner says of the audiences at his previous 18+ shows.
“When I do a song like ‘Juicy Juicy Green Grass’ or ‘Mr Clicketty Cane’, the audience almost roar – the sound is deafening!”
