Australian Touring Company RCM Touring Denies Owing Over $120,000

UPDATE: Court Orders Aussie Touring Company RCM Touring Be Liquidated Over $120K Debt

ORIGINAL STORY: Australian touring company RCM Touring has denied owing over $120,000 to a fellow touring company, after an application to have the organisation liquidated was filed in the Federal Court Of Australia.

Big Deal Touring has accused RCM Touring — operated by talent agent Ralph Carr — of failing to pay thousands of dollars in invoices, totalling $120,300, for work involved in a number of tours which took place in 2017, including Roy Orbison’s Australian hologram tour, which was cancelled last month.

Court documents obtained by Music Feeds show Big Deal Touring is seeking to liquidate RCM Touring in order to reimburse the cost of the unpaid invoices.

Big Deal Touring has called for RCM Touring “to be wound up in insolvency relying on failure by the company to comply with a statutory demand”.

In a statement to Music Feeds, RCM Touring’s solicitors Dwyer & Co say there is “no substance” to Big Deal’s claim, and that “no monies are owing” to the company. Dwyer & Co also suggest they will not be appearing in court when the case is scheduled to be heard at Sydney’s Law Courts Building on 1st June.

“Due to a misunderstanding our client did not respond to a statutory demand within the 21 day period,” they say.

“Hence there is now no reasonable opportunity to have the claim looked at on its merits. Since RCM Touring Pty Ltd has long since ceased trading our instructions are not to incur the costs of appearing to fight this in Sydney on 1 June 2018.

“All our attempts to settle this matter on a commercial basis were rejected out of hand.”

Other tours mentioned in the court documents filed by Big Deal Touring include an Elvis Presley tribute tour, a Priscilla Presley speaking tour and appearances from AFL star Dustin Martin at Melbourne’s Crown Casino.
