One of the leading entities within our local heavy scene, Stories have taken to social media today to announced an impending “indefinite hiatus”. The band will be hanging up their straps and leads once they’ve followed through with their commitment as supports for Enter Shikari’s upcoming Australian tour.
Anyone who got a hold of the band’s latest album — the brutally confident The Youth To Become — is sure to be surprised by the news. The headstrong, unique effort indicated a band with the world at there feet but, alas, here we are.
“We feel that this is for the best and we are all eager to pursue other passions and opportunities at this point of our lives,” the band says in a statement posted to Facebook.
“We want to say thank you to everyone we’ve been blessed to have met over the years and to anyone who has ever supported this band. We’ve had the opportunity to play with some of our favourite bands and made friends from all over the world whom we will never forget.
“Words can’t describe the beautiful moments we’ve experienced throughout the duration of this band. Music is magic in its ability to bring people together and enlighten us all in unique ways. You have all played a part in this journey, one that can never be recreated.”
As far as splits go, it seems to be totally amicable. The announcement explains that the band members are now “eager to pursue other passions and opportunities”, having spent the last six years as a group. They make sure to thank anyone and everyone who supported them, adding “You have all played a part in this journey, one that can never be recreated.”
Stories say they will be playing a final show in Sydney later in the year, which will be announced soon. You can read their full statement to fans, below.
Thanks for the memories, Stories.
