Aussie Radiohead fans better recalibrate their iron lungs, because they’ve just been trolled big time after the Instagram page of Melbourne’s Corner Hotel let loose with some fake Radiohead tour news.
Last night, the Corner Hotel’s official Instagram page shared a since-deleted image of Radiohead, and “announced” a ridiculous SEVEN Radiohead shows at the venue over seven consecutive nights in May next year.
Here’s proof:

As it turns out, local troublemakers Northeast Party House were the ones behind the post. The band’s guitarist, Mitch Ansell, tells Music Feeds that they were asked to do an “Instagram takeover” to promote their upcoming New Year’s Eve show at the Corner Hotel, and were a little lost for ideas.
“To be honest I was at work stacking apples, pretty bored and needed something to entertain myself. It was either announce a Limp Bizkit Christmas show or this — Radiohead won,” Ansells says.
“I think after we stated that [Radiohead frontman] Thom [Yorke] had a wedding and couldn’t make the shows and we got our 10th comment of abuse in a row it was a good idea to take them down.
“Radiohead playing the Corner? Haha pretty unlikely. I guess it’s a little more entertaining for us than uploading a picture of our lunch or a new haircut that we just got. The Instagram takeover thing is an interesting idea, maybe we don’t really get it haha.”
In a statement to Music Feeds, The Corner Hotel says it “had a pretty big laugh when we saw what [Northeast Part House] had gotten up to”.
“Good on them for giving us something to giggle about on what would’ve otherwise been a run of the mill Tuesday morning,” the venue says.
So yeah, Radiohead aren’t playing seven tiny shows in Melbourne next year, and they still haven’t announced any new Aussie shows since releasing their latest album A Moon Shaped Pool earlier this year.
Radiohead last toured Australia in 2012 behind their previous album The King Of Limbs, so fans are desperate for new shows but shouldn’t believe everything they see on the internet, obvs.

News of the tour prank arrives on the same day as news about the tragic passing of Thom Yorke’s longtime partner Rachel Owen, who has died aged 48.
