Californian heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold have unleashed the music video for Hail To The King, the title track off their sixth studio album, which is set for release on August 23.
As a follow up from 2010’s Nightmare, Hail To The King will be the first Avenged Sevenfold album without any contributions from late drummer James Owen Sullivan (The Rev), who died in late 2009 following a tragic drug overdose.
Despite Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy sitting in for The Rev on Nightmare, his gig was always marked out as temporary. Arin Ilejay is now the band’s official drummer after being a touring member of the band since early 2011.
The release of Hail To The King will no doubt carry some emotional weight for the band in light of The Rev’s absence. Nonetheless, fans are excited for new material – material which we’ve been told carries influence from 18th century composers.
After a lengthy American and European tour later this year, Avenged Sevenfold look promising for inclusion on the bill for Soundwave 2014, even more so now that they have a new album to promote.
The album Hail To The King is released in Australia next Friday, 23rd August.
